    Christmas Wish List 2011

    2011 - 11.02

Here’s what I can think of that I’d like for christmas:

    Sunshine (DVD)

The Awakening by James Morrison (CD)

    Misfits – Series 1 and 2 (DVD)

Park Bench Theories by Jamie Scott & The Town (CD)

Save Me, San Francisco by Train (CD)

Lungs by Florence + The Machine (CD)

More to come when I can think of stuff :/

So yeah, I have this blog I forgot about…

    2011 - 10.27

Ignore how long it’s been since my last update.

So what’s been up with me since I last rambled. Well I got a job for starters, the same place Craig work. I am now gainfully fully employed at Northgate-IS working on the IT service desk. The people are nice, the work fluxes between busy and quiet at the drop of a hat and the money is good. So yay all round really.

Home wise Simon and Jan have finally moved out forever and a day after they were originally meant to. They’ve taken their dog with them but they still need to get the guinea pigs, that day isn’t coming soon enough. Me and Faith are talking again after not talking for ages and my love life is still laudable. My parents went off on a nice big holiday without me, damn them, and went to see Lee Evan live without me, bastards. I went to the cinema to see a bunch of stuff, nothing new there.

I’ve played a shit tonne of games which I won’t give detailed experiences of so I’ll just quick fire what I remember playing:

    • Bastion (instant favourite and possibly the best game I’ve played this year)
    • Dragon Age 2: Legacy (decent piece of dlc but way to short)
    • Fallout New Vegas: Old World Blues (started out promising but became so annoying by the end that I’m not going to buy the final dlc for the game)
    • Professor Layton and the Lost Future (this series continues to make me feel really smart and really stupid at the same time, also watched the film which was good)
    • Pokemon Black (decent but I think I’m done with Pokemon games until they do something big to mix it up)
    • Golden Sun Dark Dawn (good game but doesn’t compare to the greatness of the original two games)
    • LoZ: Orcarina of Time (good game and better with improved graphics, feels dated though, there must be alot of rose tinted glasses out there)
    • RE Mercs 3D (cool game that shows what the 3DS can do graphically, make me excited for RE Revelations)
    • Gears of War 3 (great game and the multiplayer is awesome too)
    • Batman Arkham City (just completed but still playing, this game is awesome, I love me some batman)
    • Dark Souls (very hard game but very fun in a way I’ve not seen in a long time, online stuff sucks though, still playing this, I’m about half way through, I think)

And that sums up what I can remember playing. There was a load of web browser games and I played a little Chime and Battlefield 1943.  There is a mass of games coming out that I want and not enough time to play them in. I will however continue my mission to complete every 360 game I buy. Just got Dark Souls to finish at the moment. God damn.

Life, oh life, ooooooh life, oooooooh life, do do do do

    2011 - 07.10

God it’s been a long time since I’ve posted up on this. Heck, the sites been changed since then. Anyway a few things have happened since last time:

Faith broke up with me and then asked if I’d take her back in a really roundabout way so I’ve no idea what we are anymore, cinemas, went to a damn posh wedding in Wales with the family minus Simon who couldn’t get off work, more cinema, I’m going to be an uncle and then cinema again.

So yeah, lotsa stuff most of which you all already know which is why I’m not talking about them.

What I’ve not told you yet is that Simon and Jan are moving houses (well actually I told Craig) but a few days ago I found out that they’re not moving into the new house until six weeks time but they get kicked out of their current place in three. That means they need somewhere to live for three weeks and guess where there going. Here. And then guess what? My parents go away on holiday the start of August so they miss most of them living here. Bastards. I was planning on inviting you all round when my parents are away but I’m not too sure now, I’ll have to think on it.

I’m going through a bit of a games drought at the moment. I’ve finished every 360 game I have that has an end point and I don’t see anything new worth getting until September at the earliest. Bastion is the only thing I can see before then but I don’t know how long that’s going to be and if it’ll last a month or two (most likely not). This sucks :/

Hmm, well I’m done for now. I’ll try and be more active with this and not leave it for another few months.

PS. Title is a reference to this by the way.

    Uuuuurgh, cold

    2011 - 05.04

Well I think it’s time to update this thing. Right now (and for last last two days) I’ve had a cold destroyed my throat the first day, destroyed two nights sleep and has been nothing but blowing my nose and coughing for the last two days. I really hope I’m going to be better tomorrow.

So I was being a little coy (but not very) in my last post. As you all know now I’m going out with Faith, past the first month mark and she’s already managed to get me to go to church. I won’t say much more on this here since you’ve all already asked me about this in person.

Well, what else have I been up to? Played pool a few times, cinema a few times, finally got myself a cinema card (actual card still hasn’t arrived yet), avoided the royal wedding like a plague, same old really.

Games wise I’ve gone back to Fallout New Vegas which I still haven’t completed. I’ve still got Torchlight to play and Beyond Good and Evil to finish. Bought myself Portal 2 which I loved, still got to try the co-op mode, I’m waiting for Craig on that one.

Right, that’s it. I need to go blow my nose again.

    So Damn Happy Right Now

    2011 - 04.08

So I met up with Faith last night in Seaton. We spent a couple of hours together and and a great time. I was super nervous to start with but began to relax as we talked and joked on. I’m gonig down to visit her on sunday provided something doesn’t crop up again (there’d better not be, grr *shakes fist*).

I don’t know why I’m really making this post, I know you’re all just going to ask me about this is person. Just want to point something out to you on facebook. Look on my profile, at the bit of info under my name.

    *dances with joy*

    I’m Sad Now

    2011 - 04.06

    Well shit.

Got some downer news from Faith that we’d need to delay my visit for an important (but private) reason. It’s kinda bummed me out. She needs to come into Hartlepool tomorrow so we’re planning on meeting then but it’s not the same. We’ll have to wait for a proper visit, not too long I hope.

    *sigh*

    5 Days and Counting

    2011 - 04.02

As always there has been a large number of cinema trips between this post and the previous, I won’t list them off as you guys came to see them too (even Ruth showed up for one!). Of course there was also mine and Craigs trip into Newcastle to visit Grace. It was nice to have a day out like that even if my feet did hurt afterwards. We should do it again.

Games wise there’s mostly just been Dragon Age II which is a good game but buggy and (in my opinion) no where near as good as Origins. Still a good game though. The 3DS has made it’s launch and my response is a resounding ‘awesome, I’ll get one when they’re cheaper and there’s games out for it I actually want’. I also got the original Fallout online, I’ve only played a few minutes worth. It’s cool but it’s going to require alot of attention to play, time I don’t have at the moment.

Time I’m currently using up planning to go see Faith. We’d originally planned to meet on the 25th but we decided that was a long time to wait to we bumped it up to the 7th, as in Thursday. I’m excited to see her. I’m sure you’ll be pestering me when I get back as to how our meet up went.

Ok that’s all I’m writing, this post should be long enough and I’m bored.

    Beyond Bugs and Evil

    2011 - 03.07

Hmm, well Grace has requested an update from me so I guess I’ll write one.

Well since the last update there was pool and some cinema but you all know about that. You were all there for those…mostly. Can’t really say much has changed life wise, kinda the reason I’ve not really updated.

I think I’ll talk about what I always talk about. Games! Well I’ve knida not been playing much :/ I’ve not touched New Vegas in a while. I’m wanting to hit the max level cap before I do the end game stuff. Damn no continuing after endgame and damn branching story paths.

I’ve played and completed the Golems of Something-or-Other dlc for Dragon Age and have now started Awakening. I think I should have saved the Golems of Blah until after I’d finished Awakening, it seemed like a high level sort of deal, higher than my character was at the end of Origins. It seems that’s the way it was meant to be played too as the tonne of new stuff they added in Awakening is also in the Golems of Thingy-Ma-Bob. Either way it’s done.I also tried out the Dragon Age II demo, seems cool and I’ll be getting it once I’m done with Awakening and Witch Hunt. What happened to some of the character designs though, I mean geez, what the hell happened to Flemeth?

I downloaded the first of two games that are coming out on XBLA this month. Beyond Good and Evil, an action adventure game that was out last console generation but was really hard to find. I’ve played a fair bit of that. Seems quite good in an old school sort of way. I’m looking forward to wednesday when Torchlight is coming out and the dlc for ilomilo that was announced  which was a bit of a surprise when I saw the trailer for it. I wasn’t expecting it so soon.

I’ve also done more work on my game, fixed some bugs, made some more sound effects, added some new visual effects. I also did this doodle:

Oh yeah, I also tried Fable IIIs co-op briefly with Craig on my birthday (which was a thing that happened) which was cool but we didn’t get to play it for long. I got clothes for my birthday. We went shopping to the big Matalan in Boro and I got a bunch of new stuff. I wore some when we went to see Paul. Did you notice at all?

I saw Shutter Island today. Damn fine film. I highly recommend it. Seriously, go watch it, now! GO!

How do you lose a dog?!

    2011 - 02.02

God Simon and Jan are useless. I got a call from her today wanting to know if Leeming is north or south of Catteric. You know generally when you plan on going somewhere you take the time to check where the hell you’re going beforehand. Then my dad got a call from her saying she’d lost Rafe in Snape, the village (which is quite small) my mam grew up in. How the fuck do you lose your dog? IN SNAPE?

Well anyway, it’s been a while since the last update, we’ve all been kinda lazy on these blogs. The past month or so. Christmas came and went, we dined out this year for Christmas dinner and I came close to punching a small child. He would have deserved it. New Years came and went and I sat at home feeling a bit under the weather, not the best start to a new year.

I got myself a big assed new computer chair in the January sales. I love this chair, it’s comfy, it has arms and the back doesn’t fall off when I sit back in it. That’s important.

I bought myself Fallout New Vegas, Fable 3 to go with Castlevania: Lords of Shadow which I got for Christmas. I’ve recently finished Fable 3, it was good but didn’t really improve on series which any good sequel should, I still played it through to completion and kept playing for a good few hours afterwards too some of the stuff i hadn’t yet so I suppose it’s better than I give it credit for. I finished Castlevania LoS which is much longer than you think it would be. The designer needs to restudy what a good difficulty curve is though, the normal enemies in the second last stage should not be harder to fight than the final boss.

I’m curently playing Fallout New Vegas and have been for about 32 hours. Seriously, there’s so much to do in this game and it doesn’t feel like it’s dragging on at all *cough*LoS*cough*. I also snagged myself all the Dragon Age: Origins dlcs when they were on sale on xbl. I’ve waited on playing them until I’d finished Fable 3 and Castlevania. Just tried the first one tonight, The Darkspawn Chronicles. Damn it was hard. Cool but hard. Next is Leliana’s Song, one I’m really looking forward to.

Hmm, not really sure what else to say. Anything important I think I’ve told to you lot about in person. Hmm…..

    Screenies:

I finally got started on making attacks for my game. I got the first set done, just ten more to go.

Ok, now I’m out of stuff to say. Go away.

    Five Sleeps Until Christmas

    2010 - 12.20

I need to wrap some presents.

Been quite a while since my last update. Slipped a little there, oops.

Been to the cinema with Grace and sometimes Taylor to see Harry Potter (soooo much camping, not enough action), Unstoppable (simple film but damn good) and Megamind (in 3D, it was good too, the trailers only show the first 20-25 minutes of the films story so I didn’t know what the rest of the films was going to be about, nicely played trailer people, nicely played). I think Tron is next.

It’s been snowing a butt load up here and I’m sick of it. We had heaps of the stuff, then very slowly it melted into ice and stayed like that for ages. We had a couple of days where most of the ice had gone and then bam! More snow a few days ago. The temperature has dropped as well. Winter is my least like season now. Fuck you winter, and the horse it rode in on.

My parents went and got a christmas tree a few days ago, left it a bit late this year. My mam was planning on decorating it but when they went out for something I sneakily did it myself for her. It looks pretty good if I say so myself. Which I do. So it is.

My craving for new games flared up a week or so ago so I decided to buy myself Star Ocean 4 to play up until Christmas. It’s a lengthy rpg (3 discs) so I figured that would keep me going and it’s been out ages so it’s dirt cheap now. What I wasn’t expecting was a surprise release of ilomilo, perhaps one of the most charming games I’ve ever played and Plants vs Zombies on xbla, a rather awesome tower defence game. I may not finish SO4 befoe christmas now :/

Also, my DS’s top screen is well and truely busted now. The colour started going on it a while back but wasn’t bad enough to not be able to play on it. Now though it’s completely buggered. I’d consider buying a new DS Lite but the 3DS, Nintendo’s new handheld is coming out in March. I figured I’d save my money for that and pick up the DS games released between now and then later, when they’ll be cheaper. It’s slightly annoying that there’s a sudden rush of DS games I want being released before then. Sods law.

I’ve also been workin on my game but I’ve hit a bit of a road block. I’m currently struggling with making sound effects. I’m trying to make everything sound chiptune (it’s a thing, look it up) to fit the retro graphics. I’m not very good at audio so it’s taking a while. God help me when I get to making music tracks. It doesn’t help that after I’m done with the sound effects I nee so far I’m going to sprite the character attacks. Let me just give you an idea of how long that’s going to take:

11 types of attack * 6 levels of power for each type = 66 attacks
    66 attacks * fired in 4 directions = 264 sets of frames
264 * ???? since each attack will have it’s owns number of frames = the number of frames I have to make

I’m crying inside, mainly because this is self inflicted. OH LOOK SOME SCREENSHOTS:

I’m looking forward to Christmas. I think I’ll be ordering stuff afterwards in the sales. Anything I don’t get that I really want. Yay for stores trying to sell excess stock they got in for the Christmas rush.

As ever, I don’t know how to end these, so:

    BluhBluhBluh
